Hue is the old capital of Vietnam. The most important sight here is the huge imperial city (citadel) which was built by the kings of the Nguyen dynasty in 1802.

Jukka and I arrived here yesterday by a nightbus from Hanoi. This city is crowded with hotels so you can bargain yourself a nice room for a good price. We found a comfortable double room with toilet and airconditioning for 6 dollars, it's quite easy to survive here with a small budget.

Today we made a motorcycle tour to all the royal tombs around the city. It was quite impressive. The moto drivers also took us to some old american bunkers. The DMZ (demilitarized zone) where Vietnam was divided into the north and south lies about 100km north from Hue.

On the way we took some country roads where we saw people cutting the rise. When we got back to the town our lovely moto drivers took us to a place to drink snake boos. Present day there are only three places in Vietnam where they make this kind of alcohol and today we visited one of them. The drink wasn't actually too bad. But we thought that it's better not to buy a bottle since they might find it a bit suspicious at the finnish customs.
